Hotstar will soon allow its users to experience Virtual Reality streaming in the upcoming Vivo IPL 2018. If anybody owns a VR headset and is a fan of IPL, this sure is good news to them. This feature will allow the users to experience the cricket from different camera angles and also enjoy the commentary in different languages.

This announcement has come from Star India as the plan to host the upcoming IPL fixture again. India is ready for yet another year of excitement and Hotstar just adds to the fun with the inclusion of Virtual Reality Live cricket. Hotstar will also the users to react between matches on different occasion using cricket reacting emoticons. No one will miss any action as there will be a wide number of camera angles to choose from. The new feature on the highlight from Hotstar is the all-new “Super Fan feed”. Now the users will also get to vote for their favourite players. They have named this polling as ‘Election se Selection’ campaign. Also, there is news that this year the IPL fixture will last six months, and not just two months.

Hotstar is one of the main online content media streaming app that supports exclusive, as well as live entertainment. Now many global streaming apps support virtual reality. However, this is the first app from India to provide VR support.
For this new feature though, a VR headset is required. Now the headset could be a cheap cardboard one or even the daydream VR headset. Even the company made an announcement, especially for the people who don’t own a VR that they will be opening up stores to make them experience VR, as it should be.
Mr Sanjay Gupta, who is the managing director of star India said in an announcement, “Over its 10-year journey, the IPL has grown into the single biggest property by far on Indian television. Another online media streaming platform which offers VR experience besides Hotstar is Netflix. It offers VR support for movies and shows. However, it does not offer a 360 degrees angle of view. More or less it feels like watching a show or movie on a 100-inch screen.
