As per a DoT ruling, the telcos have to re-verify their all existing prepaid and postpaid subscriber by 6th February 2018. The telecom company Airtel and Idea have started verification process through Aadhaar for their both existing and new customers. Bharti Airtel is sending SMS to their existing customers asking to link their mobile number with Aadhaar card number.

Is Aadhaar Card Verification Mandatory?
Yes, Supreme Court asked the government to register ID details of all subscribers in the country. Means, linking Aadhaar card details is mandatory for new mobile connection and all existing numbers until the end of February 2018.
Link Aadhaar Card With Airtel & Idea Numbers
If you submitted Aadhar card as address proof at the time of purchasing the sim card, you also need to visit Retailer as biometric authentication is also required. Airtel and Idea have already integrated aadhar verification on their retailer app. The deadline is until February 2018. So no need to hurry.
Now when you buy a new SIM card, your address and other details like name, age, etc. will be verified via the Aadhaar authentication online. If you received SMS regarding re-verification your number via e-KYC process, then you have to visit your nearest retailer shop. Now submit your Aadhaar number and do the biometric verification. That’s it; the KYC is done.

- You need to visit your nearest retailer.
- Now tell them your mobile and Aadhaar number.
- You will receive a four digits code Show the code to your store executive and do the biometric.
- Now wait for 24 hours, you will receive a confirmation SMS in which you have to reply that message by typing “Y”.
- That’s it; the re-verification process is now completed.
Note: The given steps are for all operators like Aircel, Jio, Vodafone, BSNL, etc. As of now, there is no online process as fingerprint scanner does the verification.
As DoT (Department of Telecommunication) has directed to all telecom operator to re-verify their existing subscriber so soon, all customer will start receiving SMS alerts, or they will see TV ads, print ads from their telecom operator regarding the same.
